Building Contractors

The relationship between the client, architect or us with the building contractor is the most crucial on any project. In many cases a contractor has already been appointed when we become part of the team, but either way we spend a great deal of time ensuring that the relationship is maintained to the best possible level. Architects quite often want to keep a regular grip on the state of play on site through the site foreman, who we tend to spend even more time talking through designs and details with. The foreman is usually the client's most regular source for updates too, so must be trusted and reliable.

If a project comes our way and a building contractor has not yet been appointed, we like to either be involved in the selection process to be convinced ourselves and on behalf of the client that the proposed team are up to the level of work put on the table, or promote a known contractor. It is most frustrating and time consuming for everyone involved in a project when the wrong building team have been appointed and only results in deadlines missed and unnecessary disputes that have to be resolved, so it is always best to spend a great deal of effort making sure the contractors fit.

We have relationships with known contractors both in London and more locally to our base who we have worked with well in the past and we know deliver the standards we expect. These contractors suit differing levels of building work, covering everything from a Mayfair set, or country home to a more modest house or contemporary flat. We also have contacts with carpenters, plasterers, electricians and plumbers to deal with smaller projects and the few odd jobs.
